Malibu — Where the Mountains Meet the Sea 16X8

I live in Malibu. 21 miles of coast where the mountains fall into the sea. I have seen it in every kind of light. I have seen it burn and come back.

I wanted the real place on my wall, not the tourist version. So I built the name of the town out of the town itself. Look inside the letters. The surfer. The board shaper. The lifeguard tower. The ferry on the water. The poppies. The bougainvillea. The old car warm from the sun. The market baskets. The pier.

There is a small purple butterfly in there too. A quiet marker. Those who need to find it will.

This is the Malibu I love. Then and now. I hope it holds up on your wall the way it holds in my memory.
